Kyle and Mommy's special day!

Kyle had his first day off of school yesterday.  We decided to take Elizabeth to her school and have a special day to ourselves.  It was great.  I had previously given Kyle several choices of our activities for the day (including sports activities, playgrounds, etc.) Kyle chose Betsy Ross' house and to go to Philadelphia!   We started out our day at Dunkin Donuts and headed to the TRAIN station!  We took Septa into the city.  Kyle was soooo excited to ride the train!  It was great to watch his face.  We walked everywhere....my big boy and me!  We went to Betsy Ross' house first.  Kyle enjoyed walking around and even listened to some of the historical lessons.  Then we met up with Uncle Howard, who works at the Mint.  He gave us a tour.  I enjoyed the information and learning how money is actually produced.  Kyle enjoyed looking at all of the big machines.  We headed to the Liberty Bell, and thankfully had Howard with us.  The line was very long, so he took us to the side to look in the window to see the bell...worked out perfect for a 5 year old interested tourist, but avoiding the line! Then we had a pizza lunch with Howard; Kyle's choice.  Then Kyle and I headed to Franklin Square to do some Philly mini golf, ride the carousel and play on the playground.  Kyle actually asked to head back home so that we could go get "Lizzy"  It was so cute to listen to him tell Elizabeth all about his day.  He  actually learned more than I thought he did!  It was a VERY SPECIAL DAY!!!

The star that Betsy showed us.  George Washington had wanted a 6 point star.  Betsy showed him it was easier to make a 5 point star.  She showed us the technique of folding the material and only making 1 snip to make the star.
These 2 are out of order

Betsy Ross (yes, live, but actor :-)

Look at that smile!  Doesn't he look excited!!!!
